For example: I'm driving home after a long day and there's two cars before me, one in my lane, the other in the oncoming lane, and the drivers have stopped to have a friendly chat. Even though they see me, they do not move along. Instead they opt to continue their conversation. As my rage starts to rise I think to myself: That guy probably had to stop and talk to his friend because he thought he had died in a car accident last week and he's completely shocked to see him! His friend is saying, "No, Man. I survived. Me and my dog Billy crawled out of there before the truck blew up. This is my new truck and Billy's at home eatin Beggin Strips. We're all good." I find myself to be so happy for this fellow driver and his long lost friend that my rage quickly dissipates.

Greens & Grapes with Parmesan Wafers

I've had great fun re-learning what to eat and how to prepare it. I was traveling every week for work. Sometimes I would wake up and have to remind myself where I was. But no more! I was laid off last week. Everything came to a screeching halt. It's taken me some time to get used to the idea of being unemployed. This is the first layoff for me and the very first time I have been unemployed and living on my own. The unemployment should come through..... the medical insurance definitely won't come through.... and I'm still debating whether I should pay for the dental. It really depends on if I get unemployment. As for a new job.... secret, secret, I have been looking and applying for 8 months now with only one interview. I've recently picked up my networking efforts but I'm still very nervous about the future. On the bright side, I have loads of time to be creative. Creativity usually gets sucked out of me when I'm working.... especially the hours I have been. Will be fun to see what comes of that.

Late Night Jogger

I started jogging at night again. Never an early riser, I find between 9 & 10pm is the best for motivation. Currently, it's indoors on the treadmill. Still a great workout, but I remember the serenity I got from jogging outside, late at night, around our complex. The streetlights lit brightly, cool air, sometimes a bright full moon ......and the quiet. That was the best part. Hearing only my breath and the impact of my shoes on the pavement. No other sounds to distract and a huge complex with a small 'lake' in the middle. Yeah... I'm looking forward to the Spring.

This time though, I won't have the bright street lights.

Arizona and The Country

I'm watching the coverage of the shootings in Arizona that occurred earlier today. I've also checked out the youtube video attributed to the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner. I initially thought that this guy had to be a right-winged zealot. Another republican with a gun fighting for the return to "his" America. The youtube video shows something different though. It appears that this 22 year old was creating his own reality and urging others to create their own also, that he was accusing anyone of not speaking his english as being illiterate. If the youtube video is a true account of his thoughts, he has to be mentally unstable. A bigot, yes, but really just a crazy bigot. I'm sorry to say that I was actually disappointed after watching his video. I was hoping that it was a tea partier that had gone off. A little, 'I told you so', to the Republican Party. But when I thought more about it, it wouldn't have mattered anyway. The Republican Party will never admit any wrong doing, ever. Not even when there are no weapons of mass destruction. They're a party of liars. And though they will never admit it, they're okay with political pundits like Glenn Beck, who has ridiculously accused President Obama of being a racist. Because they create fear and action in sick people, who then give the party numbers, who vote and get people elected. I'm sure that many Republicans in office do not actually care about abortion, gay marriage and prayer in school, but they wave it as their flag to excite and cause fear.
I just checked out Fox News to see how they are covering it... one thing that stands out: 'Jared Lee was a loner pot head.' Yes, of course. Blame it all on the hippy reefer lovers.

The Not-So-Great Hoax Of My Generation

I admit I'm not really up on current events when it comes to Hollywood. This is probably considered 'old news' but I wanted to comment on it anyway. I just came upon this article from The Telegraph which interviewed Casey Affleck, the filmmaker of 'I'm Still Here'. They quoted the actor as saying, "My intention was never to fool anybody. There's a big difference between fooling someone and asking them to think."

This is the type of egotistical thinking from people in film, and really the arts in general, that annoys me to no end. People in the "real" world actually do have painful experiences like losing someone to drugs. Or having a family member that has lost their mind. We don't need Hollywood or pretentious actors to try and cram it down our throats by lying to the public through interviews and guest appearances on talk shows.

If they wanted to show people what it is like for a great actor to spiral into the depths of drug induced insanity and have a brother that does nothing to intervene on the actors behalf, they should have just made an actual documentary on River Phoenix.

BP Frustration: Green America to the Rescue

I've been trying to boycott BP since their castastrophe in the Gulf. Opting for any other gas station besides them. It's the only thing that I can think to do. Though, no oil company is good for the environment. And gas has become like water to us. We have made it so that our country cannot survive without it. I understand the experts when they say that we need to tax gas so high that we can't afford it anymore and the consumer will be forced to purchase something new. But what happens in the mean time to people that can hardly afford transportation to and from their job? I don't understand why we as a nation cannot dictate policy to oil and gas companies, energy companies and the like, that if they have business located in America, they need to be working on clean energy alternatives. Like most travesties that happen in this country, I feel helpless. So, I did some research and found a link that gave me some direction so I can increase my advocacy for the care of the environment. And though the petitions I sign my fall on deaf ears, at least I can give my money to the gas station that holds the "Horrible, but better than the others" title.

Welcome, October, Again

October has always been a lucky month for me, which is a good reason for it to be one of my favorites. Lately, it's the month the trees start changing color and give my region golden hues and perfectly crisp air, all good for hiking. This year, it will also host the Harvest Moon, which usually takes place in September. Won't be able to see it again in October until 2017.

Happy 09/09/09!!!

I don't know if there is really any special significance for today's date but I sure do like repeating numbers and the single digits won't occur again for a very long time....

Sometimes The Obvious Gets Forgotten....

"You have your whole life ahead of you.
